Writer/Director Michael Matteo Rossi gives us the 2026 intense sci fi thriller Censor Addiction. A look at a corporate big pharma run amok and they are threatening to develop a new “normal.” Right from the first frame, after a scrolling “Star War” synopsis that ends with the viewer learning it is now 2030. Not too far in the future; four years to be exact, it seems that drug pushing medical manufacturers rule the world.

Let’s Talk Censor Addiction

This action thriller about, essentially, “Big Pharma” corruption and using drugs to control the population is compelling. Once one gets used to high intensity delivery of several of the villains, it is pretty easy to relate. Canvas Jones as the brutal Addis “enforcer” is so intimidating that just seeing him onscreen is daunting. Kudos to Bart Voitila for his choice to swing for the fences here.

Bart Voitila as Canvas Jones

Kudos as well to Censor Addiction for having Daniel O’Reilly back on board. He is just one of the few artists who have a track record with Rossi. As does Vernon Wells. I’ll admit to being a fan since seeing him in the Aussie icon the 1981 The Road Warrior. It would have been nice to see a bit more of him here.

All the actor bring, apart from that intense loudness, a certain feeling of alarm. The plotline being that Big Pharma is about to ruin a lot of people’s lives in a big way. So desperation is, to a huge extent, the order of the day.

It All Works

Censor Addiction gives us great villains and heroes that seem to be almost reluctant to engage. All the baddies chew up the scenery and the good guys downplay accordingly. This is a fun film to watch. It entertains as much as The Charisma Killers and we get to see more of what I feel are the Rossi retinue of regulars.

DP Fabian Montes-Sanchez makes each frame count and the stunts; courtesy of Will Rowlands and Damian Tanenbaum look great.

The Verdict

Censor Addiction is a solid 4 stars out of 5. It entertains and feels like an almost spiritual “sequel” of sorts to The Charisma Killers. It is due to drop in March and once we get a definitive date, we will let you know. There is no trailer right now, but as soon as one arrives, we’ll share it. Keep an eye out for this one.
