Slow Horses; Episode 2 of Season 5: Incommunicado ends in a lockdown. Lamb follows Roddy to investigate that “out of his league” date. While he is there someone tries to kill the most unpopular member of Slough House. *Although it is a toss up as to who is more unpopular, River or Roddy.*

Episode 2

*SPOILER Alert*

Coe looks to be the only one in Slow Horses who seems to know what is happening. After last week’s mass murder with an automatic weapon and the shooter being executed, MI5 is on edge.

Another assailant tries to take out Roddy but Lamb blasts him with some household bleach. The shooter then is pushed backward off the balcony. He lands breaking bones. Amazingly, he gets up and does a runner. Shirley follows.

Skateboard

She catches up with the bloke at a skateboard park. Amazingly, the lilliputian spook gives as good as she takes. A skateboard is used by both parties to defend and assault. Shirley stabs the shooter with a dirty needle and breaks the thing off in his thigh.

The man escapes but is killed by his colleagues in the back of the same van that tried to run down Ho.

Ho’s Girlfriend

River and Coe head to the apartment that Ho says is his bird’s Tara. They learn that she does not live there. However, as the two men leave, Tara looks out an upstairs window watching them leave.

Doghouse

River is still in the doghouse with Lamb. Mind, “all the losers” bar Shirley, “my only working Joe,” are in the doghouse with Cartwright. Meanwhile, Taverner at Park House places all of Slough House in the doghouse. She orders the whole lot to be locked down.

Lamb manages to alienate River even further. “Your world stopped when your grandpa went gaga and your dad tried to blow you up. Deal with it or f**k off.” The slow horses head then leaves the restaurant.

Out With a Bang

The terrorist cell has picked some local activists to plant what looks like a bomb in a tanker. The now dead shooter is dumped in a park and the body is set on fire.

At the lockdown of Slough House, they take Roddy to Park House. The rest of the losers stay behind.

Incommunicado

This season, like the others, proves yet again that Jackson Lamb has a reputation for a reason. The man specializes in thinking outside the box, as does River Cartwright. Taverner, as usual is busy juggling plates and trying to catch Lamb out.

Shirley keeps taking that packet of blow out and looking at it. Coe is opening up a lot more this season. Roddy, is still the most irritating member of the Slough House gang and Catherine continues to insinuate herself into missions.

Simply the Best

Slow Horses is quite simply the best thing on telly right now. The entire cast are killing it here. Gary Oldman, who was knighted by Prince William for services to drama, heads up a truly capable cast.

It looks like River may not be the knight in shining armor this time around. That honor may well go to Danner or Coe, or the two of them together. Slow Horses streams on Apple TV + with new episodes airing on Wednesdays.
