The season finale of Slow Horses is almost part two of “to be Frank.” The father of River continues his search for new members of his new assassination team. This season of the MI5 Slough House Regulars continues to entertain.

The introduction of the splendid Tom Brooke as J.K. was a stroke of genius. The long lanky actor, perhaps best known as Fiore is Preacher, is unsettling yet poignant. His interaction toward the end of the finale is spot on.

The end of it all

Longridge sacrifices everything for the Slow Horses. Dander almost loses her soul to revenge. Patrice, it seems, is not undefeatable after all after J.K. puts him out of this world.

*J.K., without any facial expression whatsoever removes Patrice from Frank’s employ forever. This was, quite possibly, the moment that secured Coes forever home as part of the Slough House team.*

The end of the finale sees David in a home and River making peace with Jackson Lamb. This was a gut wrenching episode in many ways. The last episode saw a perfect change of pace from last week’s “Terminator” plotline.

Somewhat satisfyingly it looks like the new season may end up getting a new head chair.

Frank

Frank loses. No real surprise there. It is also not surprising that Flyte’s “go to” riposte is “Shut Up.” She says this while cuffing Frank at the train station. Clearly he is headed for the basement. His other offspring, terminator clone Patrice managed to evoke some feelings of compassion. Not a small feat considering the number of Dog’s he’s offed.

David Cartwright

The saddest part of the entire season was in this season’s finale. David Cartwright being put in a “Park” home for his own protection. Not just to save him from himself, but to keep David away from more assassination attempts.

David accusingly shouts at his grandson that he had “promised me, River.” It is sad and touches the heart strings. It also show River making the move from his family name to the Slow Horses fam.

Slow Horses

This Apple TV offering will be back for another season. This is cracking television and deserves to be seen. Head on over and watch it now. 5 star entertainment this.
