Watching the third episode of Slow Horses, we can only ask, “who let the dogs out?” The Dogs in question are after a bit of Lamb. Mainly in the form of Emma Flyte (Ruth Bradley) who is not nearly as clever as she believes.

River

River is still in France. After following his lead, an assassin who looks like him, he is captured and still being held captive. His captors realize he is not the dead man, whom his dad killed with a shotgun, angry villagers want a piece of him.

Flyte gets to arrest Lamb, she is every bit “the dog” in this episode. Her distaste at having to deal with the head of the losers is transparent. It is clear that she cannot abide his lack of cleanliness or his manners. She is not alone in her feelings. All the dogs in MI5 feel the same.

River, meanwhile, is still running and hiding. His grandfather, David, is moved just before Flyte’s arrival. Catherine, who moves the elder Cartwright under Flyte’s nose, proves yet again that she is more than a secretary.

River moves onto the next place in France he must visit to learn about the assassination attempt on his grandfather. The grandfather who has given Catherine the slip and gone walkabout.

Lamb, is back in his office.

MI5 and slough house

The Slow Horses at Slough House learn that their newest member is a few bricks short a full load. He has dangerous triggers; pulling a knife on Danders Aimee-Ffion Edwards.

Things are still all backstabbing and ulterior motives back at the big house. The first chair; Whelan, hires Giti (Kiran Sonia Sawar) to undermine Taverner. Sam Chapman (Sean Gilder) almost becomes a casualty. Lamb knocks the new assassin for six and they all learn that the new assassin could be a Terminator stand in.

Meanwhile, the bomb issue is over everyone’s head, MI5 and Slough House alike. David Cartwright is still missing and River is not done running quite yet.

Slow Horses is on Apple TV with new episodes airing Wednesdays.
