The Boys season 4? It’s a killer, so far. Amazon should send this one up the mast. As flagships go, The Boys has set anchor and is already leading on a psychopathic journey. Three episodes in and the body count is high and we feel that Ryan may well take his “father” Homelander out.
Season 4 so far
The kid gloves are off. Homelander is not keeping a lid on his murderous tendencies. He recruits more member to “The Seven” and one of them, Sister Sage (Played with superior snottiness by Susan Heyward.) is leading the boss around by the nose.
Sage, whose superpower is her brain power, sort of takes over the reins. Although Homelander still rules the roost. He is still the most powerful Supe around. Although it looks like Ryan will surpass his “dad.”
Hughie (Jack Quaid) has parental issues, with one in the hospital in a coma and the reappearance of his mother, Daphne. Rosemarie DeWitt plays the absent parent with a commendable uneasiness. She is all twitching insecurity and angst.
Butcher
Butcher (Karl Urban) is still dying. He has called in Kessler (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to be an ally. His time, though is rapidly running out and he is desperate to save Ryan from Homelander. He is no longer the leader of The Boys. *On a side note here: Cameron Crovetti is nailing this one. His vacillating from one “dad” to another is almost excruciating.
Meanwhile Butcher is still trying to be part of the team even though he was fired by Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso). Mother’s Milk is trying to “flip” A Train (Jessie T. Usher) and Butcher keeps popping up to help out.
Bits and bobs
The Boys in season 4 has a lot going on. Annie January, aka Starlight (Erin Moriarty) is struggling with her supporters. She wants to remain Annie but she is realizing that as Starlight she has more power to sway the people.
Frenchie (Tomer Capone) is starting a romance with Colin (Elliot Knight) while Kimiko, played by Karen Fukuhara, bumps into a face from her past. So too does Starlight when she finally learns who Firecracker really is. Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) struggles to keep her daughter’s superpowers under wraps. She is also still rising to the top of the heap.
The Boys overall
This show is definitely for adults. There is large amount of murder. Sex plays a large part in The Boys, there is a “Human Centipede” type thing and a lot of full frontal male nudity. There are copious amounts of blood and on top of that, Homelander is losing the battle with his own schizophrenia. *And that mirror scene is more than a little creepy.*
Bodies are pretty much strewn everywhere in the first three episodes. By the looks of things, we can pretty much expect the kill rate to continue as each one of the “Supes” appear to be struggling with self control.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the country is tearing itself apart. Two different factions are more than ready to resort to violence. The Boys is about to go “off the effing chain,” again.
The cast, right down to the smallest part, continues to bring their A-game to the show. Amazon has outdone itself with this season of The Boys. Check out the trailer below.
