Director Taweewat Wantha gives us the 2025 Thai teen high school horror Attack 13. Set in a Bangkok school predominantly focussed on the teen girl volleyball team. It seems that Korea hasn’t cornered the market of creepy teen horror, a la Whispering Corridors, et al. In this Thai school, a ghost appears but it has more in common with the J-Horror Juon franchise, a spirit with a nasty grudge.
Attack 13 Story
Bussaba, the captain of the girl’s volleyball team is a bully. New girl Jin teaches her a lesson. Later, the captain is found hanged in the school gym. Someone gets a black magic shaman to bring the angry spirit of Bussaba back. The vengeful ghost wrecks havoc on her fellow volleyball team and her ex boyfriend.

Let’s Talk Attack 13
Thammanan Chulaboriruk presents a screenplay that dips into the social structure of highschool kids in the Bangkok. There is, however, an undertone of serious issues. The team captain allegedly has an abortion and a year off from school. She is having an affair with the school coach. Her boyfriend dislikes it and they breakup.
Jin, the new volleyball team member actually killed a girl bully at her previous school. Clearly this young lady is to be taken seriously in her battle against those who take advantage of others. She is also not afraid to fight dirty, choosing to flirt with Gunn, Bassaba’s former boyfriend.
Bussaba’s angry ghost comes back. The girls, and the boyfriend have three days to defeat the spirit or they will all die. First, though, they will have to go through being haunted by the ghost.
It Works
Like the Korean school horror films, the choice of teen girls works very well. Their vulnerability, even Jin’s makes the scares that much more effective. The best thing about Attack 13 is the double twist towards the end of the film. We learn that nothing is as it appears in this ghost story.
There is a scene about 43 minutes into the film in the girls loo. The school cleaner becomes possessed and the entire thing is impressively scary. There is also the idea that Bassaba and Jin have more in common than they think. Both young women are tough and do not bend easily.
*A word to the wise here. Watch the Thai language version with English subtitles. The English dub leaves much to be desired.*
The Verdict
Attack 13 is a solid 4.5 stars. The FX, the wire work and the story all combine to make this a great “grudge-like” tale of terror. It is streaming on Netflix right now. This is a great little tale out just in time for Halloween. Check it out and see what you think.
