Top Five: A Chris Rock Take on Celebrity (Review and Trailer)

Written, directed by and starring Chris Rock, Top Five is his take on Celebrity with its pitfalls, problems, fears and since this is Chris Rock, the comedy behind the fame. This is the second time that the 49 year old stand up comedian, actor, writer, director, and producer has donned three hats for a film. In 2007, Rock was also a “three man band” on I Think I Love My Wife and that film, which was a romantic dramedy, was pretty much panned by critics upon its release. This is Rock’s third time directing a feature length film and his fourth time directing, when including one episode of his television comedy series Everybody Hates Chris.

2014 has been a year of celebrity “dirt” being strewn across the Internet and Bill Cosby is the latest to be found guilty by the web. Acting as judge, jury and potential executioner, the death of Cliff Huxtable has taken over the Internet. The 77 year old entertainment icon has had old allegations of sexual abuse, rape and administering drugged drinks to a number of victims resurface recently and the hype it has generated appears to be gaining momentum daily, if not hourly.

Way back in 1987, when the cartoon version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made its way over to the United Kingdom, the title was changed to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, which made the lyric in the theme song, “heroes in a half shell” redundant and the change was presumably because the term “ninja” was considered too negative or brought visions of too much violence to mind. It begs the question as to whether the sensibilities of the English censors might just be bothered enough to change this film’s title as well.

Just as Kelly Clarkson had announced that her Christmas television special guests would include some pretty impressive stars, she also let the world know that she is expecting her first baby. She says it is a girl, or at least, she “feels” that it is. According to Clarkson, this will be the beginning of a large family.

Miley isn’t the only one who loves the creepy holiday though. Jenny McCarthy has shown that she likes to dress up on the day, she provided a little tongue action, but, not just any tongue, she dressed up as Miley’s extended organ.
