Sony Only Fell After Cinema Chains Chickened Out

Sony Only Fell After Cinema Chains Chickened Out

Sony Entertainment have gone through the wringer recently with the “North Korean” hack and the corporation only fell after cinema chains chickened out leaving them no real avenue of showing The Interview except in the odd theater. AMC, Regal, Cinemark and others all pulled out after Sony rather rashly allowed them the option to do so. The corporation was already softened up by the cyberterrorists with a series of hacks that left the company reeling. Confidential and damning emails, which consisted of insulting revelations about the stars who make up the money making roster of talent that the higher ups apparently do not like, were splashed across the Internet. This on top of films being leaked and other disturbing details being made public, Sony could not take much more and the last threat of 9/11 type destruction at theatres who showed The Interview was that last straw.

‘Annie’ Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz Odd Choices in Remake (Review/Trailer)

‘Annie’ Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz Odd Choices in Remake (Review/Trailer)

The original Annie came out in 1982 and starred Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks and comic legend Carol Burnett as Mrs. Hannigan, this remake has made a couple of odd choices in their replacements where Jamie Foxx is in the Warbucks role, as Will Stacks and Cameron Diaz is in the Burnett role. Granted, Finney was also an odd choice back in the original film but he did, at least, look like the comic book character. To be fair, the real star of this re imagining of an old favorite, is the young actress playing the lead role, Quvenzhané Wallis, who is stepping into the tap shoes of Aileen Quinn. This 11 year old possessor of a huge amount of talent, fills the shoes of the original Annie with relative ease and it is her performance which impresses the most.

Sony Hack: The Interview and Terrorist Film Critics

The latest news on the Sony hack reveals that on top of the world learning of just what the film industry thinks of “the talent” this new age of computer chaos has created terrorist film critics who really do not like The Interview. While this may sound the least bit trite, it is not meant to downplay the viciousness that has been displayed, or attempt at Internet terrorism being perpetrated by the GOP (Guardians of Peace). The GOP claims, through a very unveiled threat, that they will attack cinemas that dare to show the Seth Rogen and James Franco “unfunny” comedy.

Saturday Night Live: Did Martin Freeman Hobbit Down as Host? (Review)

Saturday Night Live: Did Martin Freeman Hobbit Down as Host? (Review)

Excruciating puns aside, Hobbit star Martin Freeman did a pretty good job as a first time host on Saturday Night Live, he had the monologue down pat although it did look as though the writers had a hard time coming up with gags for the Sherlock star to deliver. The old, all English actors know one another bit was a tad flat, even the talented Kate McKinnon failed to connect very well with her Dame Maggie Smith impression and as for that Alan Rickman turn by Taran Killam, the less said the better.

Kim Kardashian Picked on by Nicki Minaj and SNL

Kim Kardashian Picked on by Nicki Minaj and SNL

It really looks like SNL upped their comedic game on Saturday with host James Franco, with his BFF Seth Rogen popping in for a couple of cameos, and the writers of the show outdid themselves by picking on Kim Kardashian via Nicki Minaj in their Weekend Update portion of the episode. The 31 year old rapper came out as Kim, complete with long hair and boobs that threatened to pop out of her top, to speak to the anchor Colin. In the skit, Kardashian is upset about that photoshoot and she claims that everything has been taken out of context.
