This week’s SyFy series episode of Face Off: Killer Instinct had a Halloween flavor in both the “foundation” challenge and the spotlight one. With nine contestants left, the pressure is on for them to do well and once the initial excitement of the subject matter wore off, the stress to do well preyed upon some of the remaining contestants
Face Off: Judge Match gave the remaining contestants a break this week by focussing on the judges and allowing them to “strut their stuff” by competing against one another. Although, new judge Lois Burwell did not compete. The three who did go head to head were Glenn Hetrick, Ve Neill and Neville Page. The show brought in finalists and winners from prior seasons of Face Off to help the judges and the winner of this one-off contest could give $5,000 to their favorite charity.
In this week’s episode of Face Off, titled Animal Attraction, the 11 remaining contestants had to stick with the theme of nature and had to combine two different animal species to come up with a new “hybrid” creature. This spotlight challenge proved problematic for many of the makeup hopefuls who want to win this competition.
The SyFy Network will air the seventh season of the reality competition show known as Face Off on Tuesday July 22. The fact that the show is now on season seven is a testament to its popularity. Essentially a makeup and prosthetic competition between artists who create creatures from science fiction, horror and fantasy the show is presented by McKenzie Westmore who is part of the Westmore makeup legacy in Hollywood, her father is Michael Westmore. The seasons have between 12 and 16 contestants and there are currently four judges. The most recently added judge, Lois Burwell is well known for her makeup work on Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan and The Green Mile amongst other films that she has worked on.
