  1. I just try not to focus on stuff that is going to make me crazy. Yes, a lot of bridges. But I figure it’ll sort itself out when the time comes.

  2. Seems that the older we get the more bridges we face crossing…Another fact about getter along in years that no bugger tells you when you’re younger!

  3. I’m doing my best to put it out of my mind. If there’s nothing I can do about it, there’s no point in worrying about it. Now that the shock is over, it’s going to be another one of the bridge I’ll cross when I get to it.

  4. While this may sound a little like Polly Anna optimism, maybe “pre-diabetes” you can stave it off…just a thought…

  5. I managed to blog my way through the depressing, probably because I was expecting it, alert to the symptoms. I’d been there after the cancer and I did NOT want to revisit the black hole. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I can blog my way through diabetes.

  6. They told me while I was still in ICCU and kept poking me for blood sugar levels … while I kept protesting that “I don’t have diabetes” and they kept saying that the surgery might get it started. I didn’t believe them. Now I do.

  7. Wow…that’s the first time I’ve heard of a link between heart surgery and diabetes…having said that, my track record of remembering things since my surgery isn’t too great. While not having had the amount of slice and dice done to my poor bod that you have, I’ll happily forgo ever going “under the knife” again for the remainder of my years. Just goes to show that surgery may be life saving but, like medication, there are some side effects. 🙁

  8. I already eat a diabetic diet so it’s amusing in a bizarre way. I was warned that major heart surgery like mine can result in diabetes but I figured between the cancer and the heart disease, not to mention the arthritis and the 5 or 6 surgeries on my gut, maybe I’d get to skip this one. Apparently not.

  9. And just when you thought it was safe to hit the ice cream sundaes…Makes life that bit more interesting. I keep putting off my visit to the AZ VA for just that reason…I can’t afford to have anything else wrong with me…I’ve still got that leg issue going on…LOL

  10. Good move. I love his stuff although when I commented it sounded like I’d only just discovered him! I’ve followed his blog for sometime now, I using the excuse of major heart surgery and being hit by a car…LOLOL

  11. Rich is a great writer. He wasn’t developing much of an audience because he only posted once a week, on Sunday, which is the low point of readership anyway. So I offered him space and full author privileges. It has worked out well for both of us. He has wider readership and has improved Serendipity by giving it another, different voice.

  12. I hope so, what a brilliant article! I loved it, one of those, “I wish I’d thought of that” moments! LOL
