I’m Still a Versatile Blogger!

I’ve got to thank Asian Cinema Blog for sending this award my way. When she told me I’d been nominated, she stated, “I see you already have one, so another couldn’t hurt.”

How true.

I’ve always wanted to refer to my site as an “award-winning site” and now I can, several times over. Due to the generosity of my fellow bloggers and their (much appreciated) opinion of what I do on my site I am racking up a nice little collection.

Now as with all these congratulatory pats on the back that we bloggers give one another, there are rules and I’ll get to those in a minute or two. I’d just like to pull up my soapbox and mention why we do these award presentations.

Sitting comfortably?

These awards are a great way to learn about new blogs and their writers. Each award is set up to allow the reader to learn more about the guy or gal who posts these wondrous bits of prose. It also, hopefully, serves as another way to drive “traffic” to your site. They are all good-natured and fun. They also help to give the WordPress community some “loving” cohesion.

Of course different awards have different rules, some, more cumbersome than others. These particular rules are not too bad. And as I am a lazy old feller, I’m going to copy Asian Cinema’s version of the rules and claim them as mine own.

Award rules:

1. Thank the person who gave you the award.

2. Include a link to their blog.

3. Name the bloggers to whom you would like to pass the award and send them a link to tell them you’ve selected them.

4. Finally, tell the person who nominated you seven things about yourself.

Number’s one and two have been done to the best of my ability and since I love to go overboard, I’ve linked the site twice!

On to number three. Anyone who regularly stops by my little blog, and you know who you are, will know that I hate this bit.I faff around for ages trying to think who I should nominate or I’ll do a random type choice thing that never really feels satisfying from my standpoint. The other thing I do is to pick the last few folks who have followed me, but, that requires that I be up-to-date on thanking the folks who followed me.

If my hair wasn’t already falling out at an ever-increasing rate, I would pull my hair in frustration.

All the aforementioned blogs are great and you should really go and check them out. You won’t regret it! I don’t visit them enough. Tell em I sent you. It won’t guarantee you a free set of dishes or a decoder ring, but it will make me feel better.

1. I did not watch sub-titled films for years, mainly because in the old days you had to go to an “Art house Cinema” to see them.

2. The first Asian film I ever saw was Battle Royale. It was a case of “love at first sight” and I’ve never stopped watching Asian cinema.

3. The first “foreign” film I watched was Jule et Jim. After having a mate wax on about how “wonderful” this film was, I finally watched it. I hated it.

4. One of my favourite directors is Jee-Woon Kim, I saw The Quiet Family and now can proudly say I’ve seen all his films bar two.

5. I found both copies of the original Grudge “straight-to-video” films on a website that has now gone bust. These copies are damned hard to find, but worth the effort to search for.

6. Since writing my blog, I’ve come into contact with more professional people in the entertainment industry than I ever dealt with in my entire time trying to “break” into the business as an actor.

7. In June or July this year, I will be starring in a short film entitled Once Bitten, Twice Shy that will be directed/produced and (already) written by Natasha Harmer who is a fellow blogger and media student. She’s in Italy at the moment, but if you’re interested check out Indiegogo for information on the film and to donate (if you’ve got a spare buck or two) towards the making of the film.
